Airplane skids off Milwaukee runway

A jet with 104 people aboard skidded off a Milwaukee runway in snowy weather after the Northwest Airlines crew aborted the flight because of an engine problem as it began accelerating for takeoff, airline officials said.

Detroit-bound Flight 1726 skidded when the pilot applied the brakes, an airport official said, and came to a stop on grass by the runway. No serious injuries were reported.
