Tomas Holmstrom scored three goals and had an assist to help the Detroit Red Wings to a 5-1 win over Phoenix at Glendale, Ariz., ending the Coyotes’ seven-game winning streak.
Detroit won its second straight game on the final leg of its trip.
The hat trick was the second in Holmstrom’s nine-year NHL career. Center Pavel Datsyuk scored the other two goals.
Yanic Perreault scored the lone goal for the Coyotes.
Carolina 6, Florida 4 -- Cory Stillman scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period, and the Hurricanes rallied from a three-goal deficit to beat the Panthers at Raleigh, N.C. Carolina trailed 3-0 after two periods before scoring its first five goals in about a 10-minute span of the third.
New York Islanders 5, Boston 4 -- Jason Blake and Miroslav Satan each scored goals in the shootout to lift the Islanders over the Bruins at Boston. Viktor Kozlov tied the score at 4-4 for the Islanders with 1:39 left in regulation when he scored a power-play goal.
Toronto 4, Buffalo 2 -- Jeff O’Neill scored twice and Mats Sundin had two assists, lifting the banged-up Maple Leafs over the Sabres at Buffalo, N.Y. Toronto ended a two-game losing skid and won on the road for only the third time in nine games.
Minnesota 5, Vancouver 2 -- Marian Gaborik scored twice to help the Wild end an 11-game winless streak on the road with a win over the Canucks at Vancouver, Canada. The win also put an end to Vancouver’s season-high seven-game win streak.
Calgary 7, Colorado 3 -- Daymond Langkow had two goals and two assists as the Flames had a season-high offensive output in a win over the Avalanche at Denver for their fifth win in six games.
Montreal 4, Philadelphia 2 -- Chris Higgins scored the go-ahead goal midway through the second period and had an assist to help the Canadiens win at Philadelphia, handing the Flyers their fifth straight loss.
Tampa Bay 5, Washington 4 -- Vincent Lecavalier had two goals and an assist and Martin St. Louis ended a third-period tie with his 28th goal of the season, giving the Lightning a win over the Capitals at Tampa, Fla.
Ottawa 6, New York Rangers 4 -- Daniel Alfredsson gave the visiting Senators a five-goal lead early in the third period and they held off the Rangers’ rally.
