Investigators probe blaze at Baptist church

An investigation continued Sunday into a fire at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in the 1300 block of E. 50th Street.
The blaze was reported about 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Firefighters arrived and found a first-floor conference room in flames, said Los Angeles Fire Department Battalion Chief Patrick Butler.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze in about 30 minutes, just as the flames began to move to the second floor.
