Council rescinds law restricting home heights

The City Council on Monday quashed an ordinance that would have restricted home heights in Old Town, a neighborhood west of Pacific Coast Highway.
The council approved the law several months ago, but opponents gathered several thousand signatures to let voters decide.
The council had agreed to put the matter on the ballot, but decided in a 3-2 vote to scrap the law instead.
