The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles collected pledges totaling more than $4.4 million during its “Super Sunday” effort, the nonprofit organization’s largest annual fundraising event, officials said.
The daylong fundraising drive, relying on more than 2,000 volunteers phoning about 50,000 potential donors in the Los Angeles area, typically brings in about 10% of the annual donations to the regional federation.
About two-thirds of the proceeds are earmarked for social, educational and humanitarian services in the Los Angeles area, and the remaining third goes to Israel and 60 other countries.
