Usually, purchasers of higher-priced VIP theater tickets receive such perks as special parking and maybe a souvenir program. But at “Monty Python’s Spamalot” at the Wynn Las Vegas, holders of a limited number of $159-plus-tax “VIPP” tickets -- that’s the Very Important Person Package -- will get an unusually large helping of extra Spam.
VIPP patrons are promised a 45-minute backstage tour after the show and a commemorative Grail cup filled with beer or a soft drink. Those guests will also have the chance to take photos with the cast and crew, set pieces and props.
Regular tickets for the show, which opened at the Wynn resort and casino in March, range from $69 to $99.
There is one Pythonesque drawback to being a VIPP, however: According to show promoters, VIPPS must sign a “blood oath” swearing not to reveal any backstage secrets -- and violators “will be impaled on a spike.” But not to worry: As the Black Knight would say, it’s just a flesh wound.
