Los Angeles Opera has released tenor Joseph Kaiser, who was slated to sing in Janácek’s “Jenufa” from Sept. 27 to Oct. 13 here, so he can make his Metropolitan Opera debut opposite Anna Netrebko in Gounod’s “Roméo et Juliette.” Kaiser, a 2005 Operalia winner, will fill in Oct. 3, 6 and 11 for Rolando Villazón, who has withdrawn from those and other performances on the advice of his doctor.
Jorma Silvasti will replace Kaiser at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion as Steva, a role he sang at the Met with Karita Mattila, who will also sing Jenufa in L.A.
