New Springsteen CD to be ‘Magic’

Bruce Springsteen’s first new album in five years with the E Street Band, “Magic,” will be released Oct. 2.
After last year’s exploration of vintage American folk and blues songs in “We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions,” and his 2005 acoustic solo album “Devils & Dust,” “Magic” is described by Springsteen’s longtime manager, Jon Landau, as “a high-energy rock CD.”
Thursday’s announcement made no mention of a fall tour by Springsteen and the E Streeters, a topic that’s been the subject of intense speculation on the Springsteen-centric website Backstreets.com and elsewhere. Reliable reports say such a tour is likely to stop in Los Angeles in October.
