The general director of New Mexico’s Santa Fe Opera plans to retire but will not do so until his successor is in place.
Richard Gaddes, only the second director of the 51-year-old company, estimated the search would take 12 to 18 months. He said he will “most definitely” remain with the company through the 2008 season.
Gaddes, 64, took over the position in 2000 when founder John Crosby retired.
