‘Addiction,’ ‘Idol’ to be honored

At the Emmy Awards in September, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will present its governors award to two ventures: HBO’s “The Addiction Project,” a 14-part series and outreach campaign designed to educate the public about drug and alcohol addiction, and “Idol Gives Back,” a special presented under the auspices of “American Idol” that raised money to combat poverty in America and Africa.
