* at Chicago 5, Philadelphia 4: Matt Murton scored on Brett Myers’ bases-loaded wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth and the Cubs took over first place in the National League Central.
* at Atlanta 12, Houston 3: Left-hander Ron Mahay and right-hander Octavio Dotel made their Atlanta debuts by pitching a scoreless inning apiece to close the game.
* at Florida 4, Colorado 3: Byung-Hyun Kim survived a 37-pitch first inning and had a career-high 10 strikeouts to lead the Marlins. Kim threw 126 pitches in 5 1/3 innings.
* at Pittsburgh 15, St. Louis 1: Ronny Paulino hit a grand slam in the first inning and Tony Armas won as a starter for the first time in more than 10 months for the Pirates.
* at Washington 7, Cincinnati 2: John Lannan went 5 2/3 innings, giving up two runs and five singles. Bronson Arroyo (4-12) was lifted after giving up seven runs in 1 2/3 innings.
* New York 8, at Milwaukee 5: Ramon Castro and Marlon Anderson hit three-run homers for the Mets and Oliver Perez (10-7) gave up five hits and five runs and struck out a season-high 11 in six innings.
* Arizona 9, at San Diego 5 (11 innings): Chad Tracy hit a three-run homer in the 11th inning after the Diamondbacks blew a 5-1 lead in the ninth.
* at Dodgers 6, San Francisco 4: Barry Bonds failed to homer, but Nomar Garciaparra did, sending L.A. to the victory.
