Remembering Those Anderson Valley Days
Thank you for the wonderful article on the Anderson Valley communities of Boonville and Philo (“Time Stands Still,” by Lynell George, Travel Issue, April 1). Many years ago we camped at Hendy Woods and did our shopping at a little market in Boonville. There was a small meat counter, and the butcher would slice the bacon in thick slabs. After reading about the area, I could still smell the delicious odor of the bacon cooking on the open fire.
I hope the area stays rural. It will always remain beautiful and friendly in my memory. Thanks for a brief return to those wonderful days.
