Police shot and wounded a man who allegedly tried to run over them with his car Saturday, authorities said.
The unidentified man was taken to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his left hand.
About 2:30 a.m., two El Monte officers attempted to pull the man’s car over for an expired registration, said Deputy Oscar Butao of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
A chase ensued, in which the driver allegedly tried to run over the officers. One of the officers fired and hit the man, who was arrested after he crashed his car into a tree, Butao said.
