Big-rig crash could cause traffic problems today

A big-rig crash on the I-15 closed down the highway’s northbound lanes for several hours Wednesday, backing up traffic 10 miles and possibly causing more lane closures and traffic backups today, authorities said.
The truck, carrying a load of lumber, slammed into a bridge pillar at the Joshua Street overpass about 1:30 p.m., overturned and caught fire. The truck’s load scattered across northbound lanes, prompting closure of the freeway at U.S. 395.
Two lanes were open by late afternoon, but an inspector discovered cracks in the bridge’s pillar that may require additional closures today while inspectors determine the extent of the damage.
