How About a Road Trip by Taxi, Bus or Train?

Your Travel Issue was interesting, with very attractive photographs (“California Road Trips,” Oct. 15). However, it was intended solely for those who get about by auto.
What is possible for those of us who no longer drive? Can one get to any of those destinations by bus or train without incurring fees for a taxi service from a bus depot or train station to lodging in the community?
