Investigators Saturday were looking into the cause of an apartment fire in which two children, who were left alone, were injured.
The blaze occurred about 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of West 108th Street. It was quickly extinguished by firefighters from a station only a block away.
The children, a 10-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl, were taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where they were treated for smoke inhalation.
“We’re trying to determine what caused the blaze,” said Fire Department spokesman Brian Ballton.
An official of the Los Angeles Police Department said a child endangerment investigation was underway.
