A Misfit finds a way to fit in
So Halloween came early to the Key Club on Sunday, as Misfits frontman Jerry Only joined the Adicts onstage to rock out before his headlining gig at the Sunset Strip nightclub. The best part: He got there at 2 p.m. to sign every autograph requested of him at the sold-out show and spent the entire afternoon mingling with his fans. Now that’s punk.... And for more Key Club hooligans, check out Metal Skool’s annual Halloween bash and costume fest Monday and Coffin Case’s Halloween night of terror on Tuesday.
Prophets predict some hard times
Veteran rappers the Watts Prophets are doing a Halloween showcase at the Palmdale Playhouse on Sunday. Founding member Amde Hamilton says they’re planning a particularly hardcore set to please the gangstas and playas in town. And let’s give out a huge communal prayer to Richard DeDeux, one of the group’s three founding members. DeDeux, 66, won’t be there because he’s battling cancer.
Keeping it nice and frightful
This weekend is huge in clubland, of course. Among the All Hallows’ Eve action, the House of Blues on the Strip is plotting some good creepy fun with Cypress Hill on Friday, Indie 103.1 has its Zombie Dance with the Cramps -- legendary masters of psychobilly -- on Saturday, and don’t miss Tuesday’s Halloween Bash with My Chemical Romance.... Social Hollywood is planning a Halloween night celebfest.... But your grooviest photo op is going to be at Bar Sinister on Saturday, when the famed Goth club celebrates all things creepy with Halloween Abduction Live. The night’s headliner is Alien Lust and they’re giving away dinero for the best alien, mutant and/or robot costume. Danger, Will Robinson.
