First presidential debate set
The midterm elections are still two weeks away, but the planning for Campaign 2008 is already picking up steam. Fox News and the South Carolina Republican Party announced Tuesday that they planned to jointly host the first 2008 presidential debate on May 15, 2007.
The debate, to be at the University of South Carolina in Columbia and shown live on Fox News, will come nearly a year before the state’s GOP primary. Organizers expect the event to attract the top candidates -- a group whose ranks still remain unclear.
