Stylish Wildcat Tries to Get Down and Dirty
Stylish Wildcat has been almost perfect on turf, winning twice wire to wire and finishing a close second in her other race.
A 3-year-old daughter of Forest Wildcat owned by C R K Stable and trained by John Sadler, Stylish Wildcat will see if she can be as effective on the main track in the seventh race today at Santa Anita.
Stylish Wildcat, who was purchased for $250,000 at the Barretts March sale in 2005, probably will try the same tactics this afternoon against six opponents in the $44,000 optional claimer at six furlongs.
Ridden by apprentice Martin Garcia and Corey Nakatani in her first three races, Stylish Wildcat will be handled by David Flores today and they will leave from the outside post.
The 8-5 favorite on Jeff Tufts’ morning line is True And True. A 3-year-old Is It True filly owned by a partnership that includes trainer Wesley Ward, True And True has been idle since finishing second to Behaving Badly in the Rancho Bernardo Handicap, a Grade III, on Aug. 18 at Del Mar. She will have Tyler Baze aboard.
Tasha’s Delight, a 6 3/4 -length winner in her last race Sept. 23 at Fairplex Park, Callmeluckylucy, Nossa Cancao, Rebel Creek and Make Mine Minnie are also scheduled to go.
Race of the day: Indian Flare, who disappointed in the Floral Park Handicap on Sept. 16 at Belmont Park, will make her Keeneland debut in the eighth race today. Rafael Bejarano will ride the 4-year-old Cherokee Run filly for owner-breeder Juddmonte Farms and trainer Bobby Frankel in the $56,000 optional claimer at 6 1/2 furlongs. Indian Flare has won three of 10 with two of the victories having come at Santa Anita.
One for the road: Nevaeh should get a contested pace to chase and can be along in time in the eighth race today at Belmont. Garrett Gomez, who won with the 5-year-old Honor Grades mare earlier in the year, is back aboard in the $45,000 optional claimer for New York-bred fillies and mares at six furlongs.
Exotically speaking: A pick three using Accrue in the first, Cool All Over, Marvelous Marcia and Betrluckythangood in the second and River Savage, Sugar Doll and Romanesque in the third.
Winners: (previous day/meet total): 4/44. Money: (previous day/meet total): $17/$235.80. Total money bet: $208.
