On a slant in New Mexico

THE little town of Truchas, between Santa Fe and Taos, has a few galleries, a store and an abundance of spectacular New Mexico scenery. Victor Santochi, a civil litigation lawyer who lives in Altadena, took this picture of a leaning wooden building with a Nikon D50 during a weeklong driving trip in July with his wife, Ellen. “What I don’t think people realize about New Mexico is how old this area is,” he said. “The Spanish went through in the 1500s and settled in the late 17th century.”
