Holik scores twice to carry Atlanta, 5-4

Bobby Holik scored his second goal of the game against his former team 2 minutes 55 seconds into overtime, and Atlanta survived a roller-coaster final few minutes to beat the host New York Rangers, 5-4, Tuesday night.

Holik gave the Thrashers their first lead of the game at 9:12 of the third period. He then won it after New York got even on Michael Nylander’s power-play goal with 2:30 left in regulation.

Tim Thomas made a season-high 45 saves and Boston beat host Toronto, 4-1.... Vesa Toskala stopped 29 shots for his second shutout this season and San Jose won at St. Louis, 2-0.... Cristobal Huet stopped two of three shots in a shootout and Alex Kovalev and Saku Koivu converted their opportunities to lift Montreal, 1-0, at home against Florida....
