GUYS like Perez Hilton really tick me off [“His Open-Closet Policy,” by Robin Abcarian, Nov. 20]. His disingenuous spin of being some sort of facilitator for those closeted celebs who really want to come out (but apparently just don’t have the courage) is nothing more than a smoke screen for his own agenda of fame and fortune.
All of the excuses and rationalizations cited, such as the double standard of today’s world and that the younger generation no longer cares who is or is not gay, are irrelevant. The bottom line is that no one has the right to divulge something this personal about someone else. End of story.
But, of course, these bloggers and gossip columnists know this. They just don’t care. They hide behind tortured interpretations of politics and ethics, but all that matters is how they may benefit at the expense of someone else’s privacy.
