Last dance for Summerdance

Summerdance Santa Barbara, an annual three-week contemporary dance festival, is shutting down after 10 years. Organizers offered no reason other than that they felt “a strong sense of a cycle completed.”
“We believe we fulfilled our mission in creating new audiences for dance and in providing space and time for artists to create new work,” said a statement from Executive Director Dianne Vapnek, Artistic Director Laurie Burnaby and board President Megan Matthieson.
