What a pleasure to see “The Trailmaster” John McKinney in the magazine (“The Tao of Back & Forth,” Oct. 29). We loved his story. Having lived and hiked on both coasts, we can attest to his switchback illumination.
We miss McKinney’s regular columns in The Times. We used to clip them out and save them. We’d share them with our grown children and friends. McKinney not only knew how to hike and where to hike, but he mapped out the trail with little secrets of success and lots of sly humor. More John McKinney, please.
