* Delta Air Lines Inc., the largest U.S. carrier in bankruptcy protection, reported third-quarter net income of $52 million on higher ticket prices. The profit, Delta’s second in 22 quarters, compared with a net loss of $1.13 billion a year earlier. Atlanta-based Delta didn’t provide per-share figures. Sales rose 8.1% to $4.66 billion.
* Qualcomm Inc., a San Diego cellphone chip maker, said Japan’s Fair Trade Commission might begin an investigation of its licensing practices. The company’s licensing terms are under scrutiny in the U.S., Europe and South Korea.
