16 Inches of Rain Pound Region Near Houston

It was a soggy Memorial Day in parts of the state after thunderstorms dumped heavy rain, but authorities in the affected areas reported no major problems.
Parts of Chambers County east of Houston got the most rain, 16 inches, said Patrick Blood, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. The Houston area reported up to 12 inches of rain.
