From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The Border Patrol dumped concrete Monday into a primitive tunnel that ran beneath the U.S.-Mexico border and surfaced yards from a busy crossing linking San Diego with Tijuana, Mexico.
The tunnel extended 60 feet into the U.S., surfacing in a parking lot near the duty-free shop next to the San Ysidro Port of Entry, the nation’s busiest border crossing.
Investigators with the San Diego Tunnel Task Force discovered the passage Friday. No arrests have been made.
