Suspect Held in Sexual Assault at a Garden Grove Restaurant
A Westminster man was arrested late Friday after sexually assaulting a woman in a Garden Grove restaurant restroom, according to police.
Cornelio Garcia, 27, is being held at the Orange County Jail on suspicion of sexual assault and attempted rape, said Sgt. James Colegrove of the Garden Grove Police Department.
The victim was eating with her husband shortly before midnight at the Thanh My restaurant in the 9500 block of Bolsa Avenue when she went to the restroom. She was there alone when the lights went out, and she was assaulted, Colegrove said.
The woman fought back and the man fled. The victim’s husband heard her screams and chased the man outside, where he was held by a security guard from a nearby business, Colegrove said.
