Mechanical Elephant Electrifies London
From Times Wire Reports
A 40-foot-tall mechanical elephant trudged through a London parade ground, using a piston-operated trunk to spray jets of water on hundreds of awestruck spectators.
The 42-ton contraption was created by the French theater group Royal de Luxe. “It’s terrifying!†exclaimed Mina Yagi, 34.
The hydraulic elephant rolls along with wheels steered by an operator. Several other operators lift the feet, move the trunk and blink the eyes.
