City to Reopen Bidding on Large LAX Contract

The City Council on Tuesday overturned the Airport Commission’s approval of a $2.4-million contract for equipment maintenance at Los Angeles International Airport.
Los Angeles World Airports awarded the contract to FMC Technologies in February. But Aircraft Service International Group said its bid -- which was $500,000 lower than FMC’s -- was unfairly rejected because it was still obtaining a contractor’s license.

Airport commission: An “In Brief” item in Wednesday’s California section about the award of a $2.4-million LAX maintenance contract incorrectly said the City Council overturned the Airport Commission’s decision. The city now is required to reopen bidding.
