Why we travel
I feel compelled to respond to James T. Humberd’s letter to the editor [“Restaurants, Hotels Are Not Destinations,†March 12]. Humberd says the “idea of travel should be to visit destinations that have some historic value.†My husband and I routinely go hundreds of miles for the experience of a certain restaurant or that interesting-sounding hotel. History is of little or no interest to us when it comes to choosing a destination, but the culture, food and stay are.
Contrary to Humberd’s conclusion, they are the reasons we travel, not tools along the way.
