MyNetworkTV Signs Station KRON Deal
News Corp.’s MyNetworkTV signed an affiliation agreement with Young Broadcasting Inc.’s San Francisco television station KRON, broadening the new TV network’s scope for its September debut.
KRON, one of the biggest U.S. independent TV stations, will be returning to network television after dropping its NBC affiliation in 2002. Twelve hours of programming will air on MyNetworkTV on Monday through Saturday, News Corp. said.
News Corp. will begin broadcasting MyNetworkTV on Sept. 5 when its Fox television stations lose their affiliation with CBS Corp.’s UPN network.
UPN is combining with Time Warner Inc.’s WB network to create the CW network, which will also begin airing in September.
