Re “Marines Expected to Release 1968 Deserter,” March 14
So Allen Abney is being given an “other than honorable” discharge. Many of my fellow Marines who went to Vietnam in 1968 when ordered ended up either giving their lives or being severely maimed for that cause.
Does Abney get away with his act of cowardice by just “being away” in Canada for a few years?
At the very least make him serve a year or two at a Veterans Administration hospital taking care of the troops who paid such a horrific price.
