Healthcare for kids
Re “Lawmakers, Gov. Reach Budget Deal,†June 27
In a $131-billion budget, it is hard to understand how $23 million that would have provided healthcare to needy kids was a major sticking point. It is disappointing that a few legislators blocked what most policymakers and the public know is good policy. Californians will have the opportunity to finish the goal of ensuring that all children have health insurance with the Tobacco Tax Act of 2006 on the November ballot.
