Joint Force Kills 20 in Afghanistan
KABUL, Afghanistan — In the latest violence, 30 suspected Taliban fighters were killed in the nation’s south over the weekend.
A joint force of the U.S.-led coalition and Afghan troops Saturday killed 20 suspected Taliban militants who had attempted an ambush in Oruzgan province.
Afghan soldiers and police killed six Taliban fighters and captured eight Sunday during a clash in southeastern Paktika province, a spokesman for the provincial governor said.
In Kandahar province, three militants blew themselves up Saturday as they laid an explosive on a road, and another suspected Taliban fighter died Sunday when a land mine he was planting exploded.
