D.C., Sacramento Lobby Firms Given Extensions

The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday voted 4-1 to grant a contract extension to its Washington lobbying firm, which has been linked to a federal grand jury investigation into Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-Redlands).
Innovative Federal Strategies LLC, formerly Copeland Lowery Jacquez Denton & White, received a $99,000, six-month extension. In May, a grand jury subpoenaed documents from the county and agencies related to the firm and Lewis.
The county also approved a six-month, $101,400 extension for its Sacramento lobbying firm, Platinum Advisors LLC. One of its lobbyists has been criticized for encouraging officials to buy a $31-million Adelanto jail last year while working for its owner.
