Southwest Airlines Co. and American Airlines, seeking to settle a long-running dispute, won approval from two congressional committees for an agreement that removes a limit on states Southwest may serve from Dallas Love Field.
The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee voted 21-1 in favor of the accord. The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee approved the plan by a voice vote.
A 1979 federal law known as the Wright Amendment limits Southwest’s nonstop flights from Love to other airports in Texas and eight nearby states.
