All -- or nothing
Re “Draw the line on redistricting,†Opinion, June 29
Bill Stall is right that taking redistricting away from state legislatures would restore balance, but he is wrong to argue that California should do so. It makes no political sense for California to unilaterally impose “fair†districts, at the expense of our Democratic congressional delegation, while the Texas Legislature, among others, continues to gerrymander its districts to favor its Republican congressional delegation. If redistricting is to be taken away from state legislatures, it must be done nationally or not at all.
