Smile and say ‘steam’

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK is certainly scenic -- but it’s also a little stinky. Ryan and Nicole Yamashiro had their hands to their faces to block the sulfur smell when their dad, Michael, took this picture with his Sony CyberShot. “It’s one of those things where a little backlight and underexposure really turned out well,” said Yamashiro, who teaches science at Walnut High School. The Chino Hills family -- including mom Shelly, far left, and grandmother Linda Pitts -- took their road trip around the West in the summer of 2004.
