A new world distorter

BESIDE the playwrights, who are the good guys in Sam Shepard’s drastically distorted and cynical world [“Truth, Justice vs. America’s Way,” June 25]? He obviously hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest, and makes money doing it.
That must be his “cherished version” of the American dream -- one he hasn’t led a “withering assault” on as yet since it pays the mortgage on his bucolic, pastoral, romanticism in the Kentucky bluegrass.
Give me a break!
