Kurosawa got lost in the kids-show mix
Greg Kinnear has been very busy. He has three films out during the second half of this year -- “Little Miss Sunshine,†“Fast Food Nation†and “Invincible†-- and his wife just had a second girl. So sleep is taking precedence over pop culture in the Kinnear house. Still, he offered this brief dossier to Mary McNamara:
*
ON THE iPOD
A lot of Devotchka, which is a small group out of Denver who, coincidentally, did a lot of the music for “Little Miss Sunshine.†That’s how I heard them first.
*
TiVo PICKS
Reality stuff, “Sopranos,†“Curb Your Enthusiasm,†any golf events -- you know I played with Geoff Ogilvy early this year and he just won the U.S. Open. Coincidence? And of course we have a lot of “The Wiggles†and “Blue’s Clues.†Believe me, after you’ve got “Blue’s Clues,†there isn’t much room for anything else.
*
IN THE NETFLIX QUEUE
You know, I got a membership, then got three DVDs and never returned them. I think I am the reason the business model for Netflix works. One was a Kurosawa, though I can’t remember which one; the others I can’t remember. If you’re waiting for the Kurosawa, sorry.
*
GUILTY PLEASURE
“American Idol.†Yes, I admit it, I watch “Idol.†I got addicted last year.
*
FOR THE COMMUTE
I run a lot, so I have my little mixes. Green Day, the Bogmen, Miles Davis. But you have to put Miles in the middle of your run, otherwise you’ll never make it. I have a huge mix of stuff actually.

FILTERING THE POP-CULTURE BLITZ
I go back instead of trying to keep up with the current stuff. Back to old films and music; I was a DJ in the ‘70s, so I like to go back, you know, light a vanilla candle and light up the room with 10cc.
