Thames Whale Is Said to Have Been Ill, Lost

A northern bottlenose whale that died after it swam up the Thames last week past London landmarks suffered from a combination of dehydration, kidney failure and muscle damage, scientists said.
The lost 18-foot-long marine mammal was trying to find her way back to her North Atlantic habitat, said Paul Jepson, a veterinary pathologist with the Zoological Society of London.
