Princeton Dean Named Head of Harvey Mudd
Maria Klawe, dean of Princeton University’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, has been named president of Harvey Mudd College, the Claremont school known for its science, math and engineering programs.
Klawe, 54, will begin her duties at the 700-student campus July 1. She succeeds Jon C. Strauss, who will retire after more than nine years as president.
Klawe, 54, earned her bachelor’s and doctorate degrees in mathematics at the University of Alberta in Canada. She held teaching and administrative posts at the University of British Columbia, the University of Toronto and Oakland University in Michigan. She also spent eight years in the computer industry.
