Prime Minister Sets Elections for April 2

Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra dissolved parliament, paving the way for elections he hopes will end demands for his resignation.
A government decree said elections would be held April 2, almost three years early.
Thaksin’s action shifted the focus from street protests against him to campaigning. His well-funded Thais Love Thais party holds a big advantage over the fractured opposition.
Critics of Thaksin, one of the country’s richest men, accuse him of corruption and abuse of power.
