What a major non-story: Vice President Dick Cheney neglected to buy a $7 hunting license (Feb. 14).
Let’s have a congressional investigation to find out if it was a deliberate attempt to steal $7 from the state of Texas, or an oversight, as Cheney says. If the former, let’s push for a misdemeanor prosecution. If the latter, let’s try to prove he’s lying and go for perjury. Worse yet, he didn’t notify the press and, God knows, he has a serious obligation to do so immediately. Surely he should have used his cellphone to satisfy the beloved press rather than to try to help his friend.
As the young people would say, “Get a life.”
