An energy company broke ground over the weekend on Nevada Solar One, billed as the largest solar thermal power plant to be built in the world in 15 years.
Solargenix Energy, a subsidiary of Acciona Energy, said it formally began construction on the 64-megawatt plant in the Eldorado Valley of Boulder City.
The $106-million solar project on 300 acres is scheduled for completion by March 2007. It is expected to provide enough power for about 40,000 households.
