A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy shot and wounded a suspected prowler on the rooftop of a home early Sunday, authorities said.
Deputies were answering a prowler call in the 900 block of Clela Avenue about 2:15 a.m. when they saw the man on the roof of a residence, said Deputy Ban Nguyen, a sheriff’s spokesman.
When the deputies attempted to make contact with him, the man, who was holding an object in his hand, charged at one of them, Nguyen said. “Fearing for his safety,” the deputy shot the man, Nguyen said.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, Nguyen said.
