‘Book of Daniel’ deserved better

As a Christian and as a pastor, I was deeply saddened to read that NBC has already canceled “The Book of Daniel” [“NBC Pulls Its ‘Book of Daniel,’ ” by Matea Gold, Jan. 26]. I believe that the show was brilliantly written and carried a compelling (while still humorous) story line. It also presented a much-needed alternative view of Christianity based on Christ’s message of grace.
While I have read that low ratings led to the show’s cancellation, it would seem premature to reach such a decision.
Knowing that the sad likes of the Fundamentalist Fringe pushed for the show’s cancellation would seem to me to be reason enough for NBC to make a stand and keep the show on the air.
Let the public gain exposure to the show and in it they will hear a message of real life, coupled with a word of grace -- something that is much needed in our culture today.
