Police kill suspect after 10-hour siege

Russian security forces ended a 10-hour siege by killing a suspected militant holed up in an apartment building in a troubled southern province.
The incident in the southern province of Karachayevo-Cherkessia was the latest in a string of police operations in the violence-plagued region. Some analysts say the violence is a spillover from separatist fighting in nearby Chechnya.
Officials said one body was found in the rubble and that a suspected militant was detained.
