Blues win third in a row under Murray

Only seven games into Andy Murray’s time as coach, the St. Louis Blues have their first three-game winning streak in nearly a year.

Bill Guerin scored his second goal of the game in overtime to lift the Blues to a 3-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night at St. Louis. It is the Blues’ first three-game winning streak since Feb. 2-8.

“It’s a good feeling, I’ll tell you that,” Guerin said. “It’s something we’re starting to get used to around here.”

The victory gave the Blues a 2-16 record in games they trailed after the second period.

San Jose 4, Calgary 1 -- Marcel Goc, Milan Michalek, Mark Smith and Scott Hannan scored goals and Evgeni Nabokov made 21 saves for his fourth victory in a row in the Sharks’ win at home.

Dallas 3, Edmonton 2 -- Jon Klemm had a goal and assist, Marty Turco stopped 20 shots and the Stars won for the third time in four games at Dallas.

Minnesota 3, Detroit 2 -- Pierre-Marc Bouchard beat Chris Osgood on a breakaway to give the Wild the victory at St. Paul, Minn.

Colorado 3, Chicago 2 -- Wojtek Wolski scored two goals and Jose Theodore stopped 17 shots to lead the Avalanche at Denver.

New York Islanders 4, Columbus 0 -- Rick DiPietro stopped 26 shots for his third shutout in the Islanders’ victory at Uniondale, N.Y.

Washington 3, Toronto 2 -- Alexander Ovechkin scored his 24th goal, Olaf Kolzig made 35 saves and the Capitals held on to beat the Maple Leafs at Toronto.

Maple Leafs center Michael Peca broke his right leg on Friday night and is expected to sit out at least three months.

Atlanta 5, New Jersey 2 -- Shane Hnidy scored the go-ahead goal in the second period at Atlanta to lead the Thrashers to their third win in a row.

Boston 4, Montreal 2 -- The Bruins stopped the Canadiens’ five-game winning streak at Boston.

Tampa Bay 4, New York Rangers 3 -- Dan Boyle had three goals and an assist during a four-goal third period at Tampa, Fla., to help rally the Lightning past the Rangers.

Carolina 3, Florida 2 -- Erik Cole scored 1:59 into overtime at Sunrise, Fla., to lift the Hurricanes to their fourth victory in a row.

Ottawa 6, Philadelphia 3 -- The Senators’ Daniel Alfredsson scored twice at Philadelphia and Ottawa extended the Flyers’ franchise-record losing streak to nine games.
